“Authentic and friendly!”
My best Russian eating experience in Tokyo! Many years ago I went to a Russian restaurant near Tokyo Tower. It was quite authentic but bleak and unfriendly. This restaurant - Sungari East - is quite the reverse. You feel the warm and welcoming spirit of Russia as soon as you enter. And the feeling g...ets better and better as friendly staff bring you colourful, delicious, and very authentic food to your table. I had just returned from a trip to Russia (I'm English), so I could compare this food with what I had been eating there, and there was no question that this food was completely authentic and perhaps even better, what with the high standards of Japanese cuisine and ingredients. It was a treat to try some Russian wines, all of which had character and rich taste. And after the meal we sat at the bar and enjoyed excellent cocktails. I thouroughly recommend Sungari for an intimate cosy date or a lively party (which is what my group enjoyed). Five stars!

“Blend of traditional & modern, all great”
I've had several great meals at Sungari and appreciate the mix of traditional food and modern takes on pan-Slavic cuisine. The staff is very attentive, knowledgable & welcoming. The cabbage roll is the best I've ever had in Japan, but my favorite is the assorted appetizers and extensive vodka list. ... Highly recommended for a memorable dining experience, formal or casual!

“Poor service, average food”
Service was noticeably poor. Staffs were clearly focusing on specific customers more than on the others. Waiters were unprofessional in their approach towards foreign guests. Food was ok but nothing special and I wouldn't call it authentic Russian cuisine.

“Delicious and Pleasant”
It was a great place for our date. Interesting to eat Russian food. The food was so delicious. I had a lime vodka soda and coffee vodka on rocks which were both great. I had the set course #2 with kebab and my girlfriend had the #1 course. Both were delicious. Jam came with the tea at the end of whi...ch all three flavours were fantastic. We also had the honey creme brûlée - yum! The ambience was great and staff were friendly and efficient! Give it a try!

“I would not go again”
My expectation was much higher than the reality.I drank one glass each of red and white wine. (should be Georgian) Even though they are the cheapest ones they offer as Georgian wines, it tasted like a cheap Japanese table wine. I prefer Turkish to Georgian then.Dishes served was so so i.e. not so ...tasty but also not so bad.Only good point is its atmosphere. They served second plate while we were still eating first ones and also third while second. We visited thier Shinjuku west gate branch and not main east gate restaurant.
