“Fabulous teppanyaki steak dinner”
We spent a few nights at the Gajoen, and were wary of hotel restaurants but after getting a recommendation from a local friend, decided to try Hama for dinner one night. So glad we did! We sat at the counter and were entertained by our chef, who cooked the most delicious Wagyu steak perfectly for u...s. It was just what we remembered from our first visit to Japan, melt-in-your mouth wonderful. So much better than what we can find at home, and of course you pay for the quality. The one thing it lacks is ambience, it's quite brightly lit, but the food and service are divine.

“Gorgeous”
This is one of several excellent eateries in the Gajoen Hotel in Meguro, a truly luxury hotel where suites are the de facto standard. Follow the red carpet past the beautiful arrangements along the indoor water 'moat' to the end and there you find Hama, a traditional and one of the oldest steakhouse...s in Japan. Go for lunch and select the set with ABC starter appetizers, including crab meat or foie gras. Sumptuous. Ask to sit at a counter to watch the chef cook in front of you. Performance art, with a personalized greeting and comments. 150 gram sirloin or 120 gram fillet that will melt in your mouth. The set comes with rice, miso soup, desert and coffee. At 5100 yen, it will not break the bank. Beware though,, that a glass of draft beer is 900 yen and must not be larger than 350ml. With service charge of 13% and tax of 8%, you are out of there at 15,000 yen, 3 draft beers part of the order. Worth the luxurious meal. If you reserve enough in advance, you can seat at a counter before the window side with a great view of the garden.

“great teppanyaki”
This is in my opinion the best teppanyaki in Tokyo. They have the highest quality wagyu. I will definitely go back.

Chefs menu experience was unbelievable! Everything so good and delicious, service excellent! A bit expensive, however, worth of it.
