Tokuichi

I am writing this with non-native Japanese travellers in mind. This restaurant is a very good example of why drinking and eating at an Izakaya while in Japan is an excellent way to experience real food and drink. The place is small and fill up quickly and you are limited to 2 hours. There is no e...nglish menu, so the adventurous who cannot speak Japanese can point to what others are eating and drinking and hope for the best! It specialises in Oden from the Kyoto area, chicken from Iwate and other fresh dishes that are based on what the chef gets from the market on that day. I tried several of the Sakes which cost about 500¥ per glass. They can be sweet or dry tasting depending on the locating. Service can be a bit slow as its busy and it's not a chain-store. It's definitely worth a visit if you are with a Japanese friend or if you can speak some Japanese. It's also worth trying it out even if you cannot, but don't be too dissappointed if its full.
