“Another commercially over rated, over hype sushi restaurant within Tsukiji surroundings”
Quite a disappointment as the review from others indicated a rather good place for sashimi-sushi. I have never had in my entire sashimi meals where your sliced sashimi is only a quarter corned slice from the main body. It's quite obvious the chef who prepared in front of me did a poor estimate or ...inept to handle remaining sashimi. So rather go to waste (which I agree), just attempt to fit into the remaining slices for serving. Also, 80% of what I ordered on the sashimi plateau weren't fresh as you also visionally see the scallop is yellowish even before I tasted it. The only freshness I can taste is the salmon while the ebi, yellow tail, amberjack, toro, tuna and mackerel taste like yesterday's leftover. But I guess for the price, it's probably appropriate as the saying goes - you get what you pay for. Go for those that required reservations that have more reputable local patronage (outside of Tsukiji areas) and at a much higher price, the sashimi would be more tasty and fresh!

Sushi is fresh, the cook was able to make some alteration as my wife couldn’t eat raw sushi. Great value and good location

“Great sushi”
Really amazing sushi and right next to the fish market which means they have a lot more than the standard selection which can be found everywhere.

“Fresh and delicious”
I heard of this name from a Japanese program I was watching. Basically it was asking 100 in the Tsukiji area of which store had good sushi. It's unofficial and many people refused to select 1 place to avoid betraying their neighbours. This place was unofficially ranked as #2. Now, I'm not sure what... the criteria was for this as it was #2 place due to people naming this. I did notice the difference was, this place has no line up compared to the other Sushi places within the same block as the market. This place opens at 8:30am (compared to that of the ones near the market open way earlier and I've had to line up even if I arrive at 6:45am). The chefs here are nice people and they have a lot of fun. The sushi was fresh and delicious. I picked the omakase set of 3,600 yen. I had to add more for the tamagoyaki (the fried egg sushi). It was hot and delicious. While some of the sushi came with sauce, most of it was without. There were 2 pieces I felt there was too much wasabi. I wasn't sure if it was just me, but my friend agreed. The sushi set is made from light flavoured fish to more strong tasting. There was only 1 sushi I didn't enjoy (which is the one of many small fishies but I don't know what that fish is called even though I like it cooked). Highlights were the uni, scallop and crab sushi. If you don't want to wait for a massive line, give this a try. It is delicious and I had a good time. The set comes with miso soup.
