“Tried a bit too hard and wine by the glass...”

We chanced upon this resto, no reservation and managed to get a seat "outdoor" not really an outdoor seating as it is sheltered. Is nice as it seems all their patrons like indoors so we were the only ones and can talk loudly haha. They only have 4 Omakase style dinner sets no option for Ala Carte. ... We settled for 10,000 Yen set as cheapest 7,000 Yen only has pork option. Wine by the glass was very good but they try to squeeze in 7 glass out of 1 bottle hence each glass is pathetic ml. I've to encourage the server to pour more each time. To be fair, wine by the glass 1,300Yen white and Pinor Noir are very good. Overall, I feel they try very hard in their presentation of the food. The beef course with bedded rice taste exactly like Chinese fried rice. :) Dessert and Cheese Platter take forever. They try to make it really cool and fanciful but honestly I'll rather they don't take so long. Brownie points they try hard to cater to my partner's Gluten free option. Total we had 2 omakase set of 10,000 Yen each + 6 glass of wine ~ 33,400 Yen Hard to be back again as there's nothing special about this place. 3.5 stars if I can find that half.

36th floor, with an amazing view of the Imperial Palace and Marunouchi. Plus a Michelin star French. You will surely enjoy the meal. The dishes are designed by the chef and everything is beautifully presented. Not to mention how delicious they are. A lot of people come here to celebrate their b...-days (special service, photo taken and presented). For more, refer to hiddenjapanguide.com

“Christmas Day dinner set”

4
Reviewed 08/Jan/2017

Rather than try a Japan "KFC" Christmas meal, opted for a Michelin starred French restaurant for Christmas Dinner. Most Tokyo restaurants had set meals for the Christmas occasion, so Monna Lisa's seemed to be a the "mid-average range" that many other restaurants considered were charging - this was ...¥15,000/head (US$128/head), excluding tax & alcohol. Ambiance was cosy, albeit a little compact. Setting was slightly more "formal", than the previous bistro- style we'd tried at L'Atelier. Service (as expected in Japan) was polite and very efficient, but English was a slight challenge as each course was brought out and explained - however, still able to understand. There were two set sittings , ours being the later 8.30-11.00pm session. Each of the 4 courses were nicely displayed and very tasty. I opted for traditional turkey, whilst my wife had the beef. By the time mains were delivered, we were already reasonably full from the 3 entree dishes, even though servings "looked" small. Wine selection was reasonable and the recommended medium body red was very drinkable. Overall a pleasant experience. However, whilst it was a Christmas season menu/meal, as Japan doesn't really celebrate Christmas per se, probably hard to differentiate that from a normal set meal.
