“The definition of a Yakitori restaurant”
My wife and I were wandering around the local streets and decided on a whim to just eat here. I enjoy when all the good stereotypes are true. We knew we picked a local place because as we looked around, we were the only obvious foreigners there. We were seated at the bar right next to the chef ...station. Out came a very simple appetizer and our beverages. We ordered a variety of items and after preparing them were handed to us directly by the chef over his cooking station. Some of the food was delicious, like the steamed chicken wrapped in eggs, but other dishes were not. The chicken skin was chewy to the point where I gave up eating it and the chicken in egg over rice was only OK. The reason for the 4 stars is because even though the food was not the best in our opinion, the service was wonderful. Even though we are obviously foreigners everyone was so nice and helpful, and to me, that is much more important then the food, which let's be honest, we may not enjoy because we are not used to it.

“Great food and service!!”
Loved the food and service here! Can’t recommend it enough!! Discovered Torigen while exploring Shinjuku. It’s a lovely and clean restaurant. We ordered the fried chicken, Yakitori, fried cheese, chicken skewers, and received a complimentary cabbage salad. DK was our server and was so kind and accom...modating to our party.

“Tasty food, nice staff, good price”
Friendly staff, open kitchen & grill ( always nice to see what’s going on !), reasonable price and felt authentic. We ordered the chicken box but it became clear that there was some pork in there as well as bits of chicken that you might not expect! So please ask and please be aware. Luckily managed... to get WiFi and use Google translate where required, although staff knew basics thankfully.

Outstanding food which was a real bargain. Their expertise is yakitori. Everything was delicious and the device was fantastic

“Hostile service at shinjuku branch”
Absolutely terrible service. Female hostess hostile to english questions. Went 2x, walked out the 3rd time. Unfortunate since food is still good.
