Had a wonderful lunch at this Japanese restaurant whilst visiting Yokohama. Friendly service & v clean with generous serves and tea top ups. Highly recommend as value for money too.

Asakusa Tempura is a long-established restaurant established in 1946. It has a magnificent storefront on the main street alongside Asakusa Kaminarimon. The store also offers take-out of deep-fried tempura. The oil used is a “blend of sesame and rapeseed oil” similar to that used for tempura in the E...do period. There is a wide range of menu items from tendon to set menus, and the restaurant's calm and spacious interior allows you to enjoy a relaxing meal time.

My wife and I were here on a Gate1 tour, visiting Asakusa and the temple. We had walked along this street adn saw this restaurant, on our way to Asakusa. However, we went to the Info Center (across the street from the Temple gate, next to the Denny's and 7-11) and went up to the top at the Info Ce...nter to get a view of Asakusa. By the time we got done, we were hungry and tempura sounded pretty good, so we walked back half-a-block. It's ok, not bad, but not that good. We've had much better. It turned out that the tempura was not hot or even warm, so it was ... ok. We decided on take-away so we could go to Asakusa ASAP. Not sure what happened, but one of the photos was blurred. I debated on whether or not to include the photo and finally decided to include it.

Just walked in from my visit to Asakusa temple, a few minutes walk away on the same street. Able to speak reasonably English and have both English and chinese menu. They specialised the Tempura and is really good. Very traditional Japanese cuisine . The lunch we have around 10000 yen with one beer f...or 3 pax. A bit pricy but worth a try. The meat inside being fish, prawn or vegetable still moist with outside crispy . Don’t orders one with rice below like don as the fried tempura becomes soggy as it would serve with the cover on.. overall a lovely lunch and i enjoyed so much..prepared to wait for 20-30mins. The service is fast and attentive.
