Jang

In the hot summer, nothing feels more satisfying than spicy food.   
I visited Takumi Jang, located in the Porta underground mall at Yokohama Station East Exit.   
This restaurant is known for its homemade chili oil, blended perfectly from Korean and Chinese peppers.   
The menu offers various dishe...s using this oil, including classic Mapo Tofu and spicy noodles like Tantanmen and Mapo Noodles.   
I ordered the Mala Mapo Tofu Set and chose spice level 4 (out of 10).   
The tofu arrived bright red and glistening with oil—rich in numbing Sichuan pepper and chili heat. Despite the spiciness, it had a great balance of savory meat and tender tofu.   
The set came with steamed rice and a daily vegetable dish (that day, a chilled soy-sauce seasoned bean sprout salad).   
Portions were generous, and rice refills are free, which is perfect if you want to fully enjoy the Mapo Tofu.   
I also tried their Chilled Spicy Tantan Noodles, a limited summer menu. The cold sesame broth was refreshing yet had a pleasant kick, making it ideal for hot days.   
Takumi Jang is surprisingly authentic despite being in a department store area.   
If you’re not into spicy food, don’t worry—there are mild and even non-spicy options available, so everyone can find something to enjoy.   
Highly recommended for anyone craving bold, Sichuan-inspired flavors in Yokohama.
