“Memorable meal”
We visited Monta after a recommendation from a local chef and we were not disappointed. We had a Kaiseki menu featuring wagyu beef, tempura abalone, mushrooms in dashi, monkfish, miso and much more. We were seated in a small private room to spare any blushes and were served by a very charming chef w...ho explained each of the courses in good English. I had some lovely sake with my meal after asking for a recommendation. This wasn’t always a straightforward experience but me and my wife agreed it was a highlight of our honeymoon and although the bill was pricey it compares well to other food experiences on offer in Tokyo.

“Delicious Kaiseki and beautiful setting”
Not easy to find but certainly worth the trip and off the beaten tourist track. Beautiful, exquisitely presented, delicious food presented in an elegant setting. Come hungry and personally I always favour sitting at the counter

“Amazing Food in a Historic Setting”
Located next to the Sengakuji Temple near Shinagawa, Monya is a very refined restaurant which serves cuisine from Toyama (Hokuriku region on the Sea of Japan side). I went for dinner with some friends from out of town and had a course with nodoguro (a rare deep sea fish) as the main dish. All the ...dishes were well presented and the service was excellent. The restaurant is located in a quiet neighborhood and the restaurant has its own garden as well as cobble stone approach. A good choice for special occasions.

“Excellent food and service”
Beautiful entrance next to the temple, excellently decorared. The food is typical japanese and nicely served in front of a bar from which you can see the cook preparing meals. Highly recommendable!
