OUTBACK Shibuyaten

After looking at many restaurants in Tokyo, settled on this one. Having not been to one of these before, our waitress took us though the menu like we were geriatrics, or had never ordered food before. Every page had a "This is very popular in this restaurant" item mentioned; got a bit predictable af...ter first couple of pages. When it arrived, the food was fine; large portions; tasty; exactly as described on the menu. Drinks good also. Would happily return to this chain if I encountered it elsewhere.

We had a group of ten weary travellers from Sydney without a booking. The Manager Hirokazu organised seating for us and also let us split the bill, he was so accommodating. We had a great meal cooked to our liking. Mine was too spicy (I did order it plain) and it was changed immediately with a ...complimentary soup as an apology. We were impressed how well we were looked after and Hirokazu organised a special ice-cream dessert for my friend’s birthday.

I have to say as an employee this must be a great place to work. They have plenty of time to chit chat w coworkers and lots of smiles and jokes. Awesome! What they don’t have time for is to serve the customers. You will wait and wait and wait in the most basic request. If you try to make eye contact... they will immediately drop their head so as not to notice. Even a traditional Japanese “Sumi masen “ will be ignored completely. At one point I had to physically get out of my chair and go tap a person in the elbow just to get them to acknowledge me. But of course the obligatory surprise reaction was delivered w gusto. This place is a joke and the service is the very WORST. Food quality is similar to service. I ordered the prime rib and it tasted kind of like a soft mop soaked in warm water. There was No flavor which prompted my request for salt and pepper that I actually had to get myself. Veggies were similar to a school lunch program. In short bland and blah. If you are hungry and want quality food w great service I have attached a picture of a restaurant that will give you both. Hint it’s downstairs and to the left from the Outback.

We visited the Outback in Singapore many years ago and whilst strolling through Shibuya came across it again . We went along and food was still excellent and still doing the ‘bloomin onion’ which is great . Beer was pricy but food was cheaper than UK . Service was superb from the girl who was attend...ing to us , sorry can’t remember her name but she is going to London later in year . Thanks to everyone at the Outback .

I went to this restaurant for a couple time... The restaurant was so nice. The price of the food is reasonable. Some restaurants had a limited time for having meals (about 90minutes), and this restaurant as well. It was good since my kid got a coloring paper and crayon as well during the meals.
