“if you like game meat this one is for you”
I'd been wanting to eat here for some time and took the opportunity on this visit to Tokyo to go for it and I'm glad I did. I'd eaten bear before in Scandanavia and boar at Shinchaya on the Nakasendo Way so knew what sort of flavour I should be getting. I wasn't disappointed. I went for the 'wild an...imal meat course' which included deer, boar and bear. There were around five courses the main one of which was a cook at the table dish. Bear starter, main dish of boar hot pot, dear sashimi, fried deer and bear meat soup to finish. A nice and very tasty evening. The staff were very helpful and we managed to communicate in spite of my limited Japanese - one of the staff spoke limited English. she told me that the restaurant had been there in one form or another for around 300 years! Service is in traditional Japanese tatami mat rooms where you sit on the floor. Well worth the cost for off experience.
