“Skip it, too many other good places.”
Cute place, authentic, service was fine, but quality of food was not great. Chicken was grissely and tasted like it was dropped in charcoal. Nigiri was too thick and chewy, just not food from my perspective.

“Cozy Dinner”
Had dinner at Akasaka Umaya and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the dishes had a homemade, comforting taste. Service was attentive without being intrusive. A great spot for a relaxed dinner in the city.

“Enjoyable Lunch”
Delicious food in a traditional setting. It's better to make a reservation if you want to come during lunch time due to the fact it's in Akasaka. They also have a menu in English.

“Nice Traditional Meal”
Nothing to rave about, but a nice traditional Japanese meal at Akasaka Umaya. Service was good, private room/seating area was nice. Prices very reasonable---I will say they did serve some of the best sea bream that I've ever had!

“Owned by one of the famous Kabuki actors in Tokyo.”
A friend took us here as they prepare foods per her province. Tasty, with a mature hipster feel. Western and Japanese tables. While some Tokyo restaurants have made progress in having non-smoking sections, we had to eat outside (still pretty) to avoid the smoke. I wouldn't recommend this place if sm...oke bothers you.
