“Enjoyable Lunch”

Delicious food in a traditional setting. It's better to make a reservation if you want to come during lunch time due to the fact it's in Akasaka. They also have a menu in English.

“Nice Traditional Meal”

Nothing to rave about, but a nice traditional Japanese meal at Akasaka Umaya. Service was good, private room/seating area was nice. Prices very reasonable---I will say they did serve some of the best sea bream that I've ever had!

A friend took us here as they prepare foods per her province. Tasty, with a mature hipster feel. Western and Japanese tables. While some Tokyo restaurants have made progress in having non-smoking sections, we had to eat outside (still pretty) to avoid the smoke. I wouldn't recommend this place if sm...oke bothers you.

“An assortment of deliciousness ”

Came here for a small family reunion. I'm usually not a fan of ordering the same thing as the rest of the people in my group but their kakuyameshi looked so delicious. All 12 of us got it. The only difference was not all of us got white rice. Basics: miso soup was good. Not to strong, had age in i...t. Great start. Tamago was nice and soft. Little bit set as it should be. Okra, some designers probably won't like the slimy texture, as is the case with my uncle, but the rest of us dove in. Great with the rice. Did i mention they give raw egg to mix with the rice? As i make my was around the variety of small portions of tongue uphoria, i come to what i saved for last, chawamushi. This is the deciding fish in my opinion. Growing up in LA, it is very hit or miss. I dip the spoon in and immediately i know, it is nice and soft. I dig in and finish every last bit. Scraping the sides to make sure nothing is left. I look over to my uncle's plate, only the okra is left and i don't have any more gohan to eat his portion with. I decide to hold back.

“Great ambience with great food”

My first time and I was surprised at the ambience of this restaurant, which I understand now has branches in Bangkok too. Great Kyushu Izakaya where you can find almost everything and anything. More importantly the food was good and prices were reasonable.
