I was travelling with my sister and daughter at the beginning of April. It was our first restaurant we went to in Japan and we were very excited! The prices looked reasonable. We ordered only some salads (about 650 yen) and spring rolls. The staff seems very friendly and gave us complimentary a ra...w vegetable appetiser (three pieces of cucumber, lettuce and some sort of radish). When we asked the bill the strange amount money was added (750 yen, 25% of our whole bill!). We asked to explain this extra money and staff told us it's for "table cover" but only for two adults as they kindly didn't charge for a kid! The tax was added to the bill as well which is normal. Later we asked some locals and our guide why is it so expensive "table cover" in the restaurant so we will be ready for the next time to pay extra money. Is it sort of tips? They were surprised and said no restaurant has it or should be written on the menu! Next day I was walking by this restaurant and decided to talk to a manager (it was the same man). I asked to point in menu any information about "extra money for table cover". He couldn't do it! Then he told me they charge for the appetiser which we hadn't order but they bring it as "complimentary"! He wasn't apologetic or didn't offer to give the money back but just asked: "what do you want?". I know it's not big money but I never expect some people in Japan can take advantage of tourists especially two women with a child and try to make this dirty money. It gives me an unpleasant impression of the whole country. The places with dishonest staff where they treat strangers and tourists as foolish passers-by should be AVOIDED!

The staff made my day. Felt very warmly welcomed & treated like a king. You’ve got to taste the chicken from the charcoal grill. Very tasty 🤤 And the best Saké I’ve ever tasted: Hakkaisan Dassai! Thanks 🙏🏼 for a great evening :-))

This place is next to a pharmacy, with the entrance slightly back from the street. The menu is displayed on the street and two staff were there with an English version. Tired from a day of travelling, we were after something quick and simple. This restaurant was a highlight of our trip! Not too hot ...inside ( an all too frequent problem in Japan), a basket for your gloves and scarf and coat hangers for coats. A wide variety of options on the menu, including interesting salads, fresh spring rolls and fish cakes with seaweed. Something for everyone, including vegetarians. The staff were efficient and friendly, and made us a fun welcome message on a plate out of chocolate sauce, with complimentary jellies. They also gave us a little sample of their nice miso dip to take away.

We came twice, once at the beginning of our trip and then we were excited to go there again on the last night. The menus and decor seem to showcase the farms where the ingredients are made. The food tastes high quality; they bring some veggies to use for their delicious miso spread. The staff were ...really friendly both times - they made a special note written on the plate when it was time to go. It was a bit slow for a big group, but much quicker with just a family of 4. Nice lively atmosphere, but kind of smokey at times.

Came across this great restaurant purely by chance. Great food, atmospheric and excellent service. There's a vegetarian menu available too. My husband and I were staying in nearby hotel as we had an early flight out of Nariita the following morning. This little gem is well worth a visit.
