“Unforgettable experience!!! 🤤🐢”
We visited this restaurant in 2016 and we still can’t forget what an amazing experience it was! From the very beginning- when we were choosing a turtle to cook, had an intimate sitting- just two of us in a small old style Japanese room- to the exceptional service- each meal was prepared for us… JUST... WOW! It was a truly unforgettable evening! We ate raw heart inside of sake! The owner itself was super kind and caring. He took pictures & I promised to write a review to let others know about his place. So sorry it is a bit past due! But we remember your restaurant & it holds special place in our hearts! THANK YOU! Maryna & Boris (New York).

“By far, one of the best meals I've ever had”
I've always heard about suppon before, but there isn't anywhere in Hawaii that sells it (though i think you could probably find someplace in Chinatown that will sell you soft shell turtles), so when i had the chance to try some authentic suppon dishes i jumped at the chance. It wasn't easy to find ...a place who's sole speciallty was suppon (usually there places that have suppon nabe, or sold different suppon dishes a la carte), but when i came across Maki Shimbashi ten i was thrilled to find a place that both specialized in multi course suppon meals and had a proprietor that spoke excellent english. You do need to make reservations, at least a day before, and definitely be on time for your reservation, but you will be more than happy with your meal. The restaurant was particularly challenging to find. It's located, not on a street, but in a small alleyway in between a few rows of buildings, so if you're just strolling along, you'll have a hard time locating it (couldn't even find it on googlemaps). the interior is nice and cozy and consists of a counter area where the owner and his staff work and a small area with cushions where customers have their meals. The proprietor is very friendly, and the energy and friendliness of both he and his staff make the experience a hundred times better than it would have been with just the excellent meal alone. He not only prepares the meal, but he takes his time to explain what exactly you're eating and how he prepared them. The Suppon meal was incredible. From the miso marinated suppon eggs to the suppon nabe itself (the nabe broth was so fantastic we had to stop ourselves or we wouldn't have had any left for the rice porridge they make out of the left over nabe broth), every single dish was beyond fantastic. I'm not going to go into it too much because i could write a novel on our experience, but i can honestly say that this ranks among the best meals i've had in my life. If any of you get a chance to go to tokyo, make sure you stop by Maki Shimbashi ten.
