Mikazuki

I discovered this restaurant by accident while strolling back to our airbnb one night with my friend (whom was travelling with me to japan). We thought it looked really cute and also authentic so we planned to go there later. Unfortunately upon arriving at the restaurant a few days later my friend ...couldn't eat there because of budget issues, so I ended up eating here alone. But even then, I actually had a wonderful time. This restaurant is really small and therefore really cozy and it feels really personal. You can sit right by the counter where you can watch the chef Mikako at work. I was having issues with reading the menu as I'm not fluent in japanese yet, but there was a really nice japanese man who was fluent in english as well who helped me out a lot at the time. I ordered a 4 course meal around 30 euros orso and it was really simple but at the same time really authentic and delicious. The visual presentation was nice as well. Another little detail I liked is that she would add 'stickers' on a board to refer to introduce the separate dishes and I just thought it was a really cute idea. I chatted with Mikako as well as that man and I found that there was an oji-san whom we funnily enough saw the other day (who waved at us funny) when we discovered the restaurant who was eating there again that night (he is a regular apparently). So that was a funny surprise in the end. I have to say eating here was such a memorable experience for me and if I go back to tokyo I will come back for sure! This truly is a hidden gem. If you want to try authentic Japanese food in a more relaxed intimate setting then Mikazuki is your place to go! Thank you so much Mikako for being so warm and welcoming, until next time :)
