“A special date with MONJYA!”
Oshio ("ima" branch) is one of the best places to take someone and impress them with Monjya. Set apart from the typical shitamachi style (downtown old Edo style of Tokyo) this Oshio is very cool and chic ... good for a special date or introducing important clients to monjya. This Oshio has a very st...ylish, subdued interior, so it's easy to relax and soak up the atmosphere (as it's not as noisy, as other places can get - try the NST shop, if you prefer a shitamachi style for noisy and fun). Reasonably priced, most of the monjya range from 700 - 1500 yen ... so, it's a rather cheap meal, unless you're into drinking a lot. I would suggest 1-2 monjya per person ... and there aee no bad choices ... they're all yummy. It's better to go with lots of friends, so you can try many more styles of monjya. You can even make up your own style, by adding as many toppings as you like to one. The menu has a great variety of monjya (besides I'd only eat monjya in a monjya shop ... because you don't go to a sushi shop to eat steak, right?!?) with plenty of unique styles (all of the Oshio's do). The ingredients are ALWAYS good and fresh and the drinks always cold! You can cook the monjya yourself or ask one of the staff to show you how it's done ... they're very friendly and let you take your time - there's no pressure to eat and run! Some of the staff can speak a little English and they have an English menu to choose from. I've been going to Oshio for years and they've never let me down! Definitely a must try, when you're in Tokyo!!
