Okonomiyaki is one of the soul food for Japanese, crape for French, pancake for American, so to say. Its originally from Osaka, western part of Japan, where flour-made-dishes (Okonomiyaki, Takoyaki, Yakisoba) is famous. The most common type is Buta-tama, Pork okonomiyaki. There are many ingredients ...for Okonmiyaki, pork, beef, seafood etc and mostly it contains meat. The nice ting about this restaurant “Darumasan Icchome” in Ebisu is that the staff is very understanding about vegetarian. If you tell the staff you don’t want meat for your meal, they will make things you want with pleasure. The menu is only in Japanese and theres no picture on menu, but since staff are all friendly and are willing to customize the menu / take off meat for you, you can simply ask the staff what is good. One thing I have to tell you is that theres a little of meat extract in the sauce they use, and theres no other sauce choice (I asked them if they have another sauce and they said no). If you are very strict on avoiding meat essence, it may be difficult to visit, but i you dont mind a little bit, I highly recommend this place for understanding for vegi, and cooporative stance of the restaurant.
