“Unique experience”
This was a pleasant surprise. All we knew was that it was a tofu restaurant but it was far more than that. Our table was in a room that overlooked a Japanese garden and we had a kimono clad lady serving us. The food was very interesting, we even had yuba. The traditional building and gardens alone w...ere worth the visit. I look forward to returning for dinner.

“Tofuya Ukai, Owada”
Great places for tourists and guests. Every room overlooks a small Japanese garden and a pond. One cooks their own chicken or bird meat and vegetables on Japanese coal barbeque net. Best to go in evenings and order a course meal for resonable dinner. Taxi service Takaosan station is recomended and ...it is difficult to find by rental car even if you check on their website. Ask the renta-a-company to program the car navigational sytem to this restaurant if not sure how to get there.

“Sublime Atmosphere in a Busy City”
I have been to other Ukai restaurants and was full of expectation for this one. I was not disappointed. We were there for lunch and had a private room looking over the beautiful garden. The garden looked as though it had been there forever. But no. It was the site of a former ten pin bowl centre ...near Tokyo Tower. The buildings, arranged around the garden, were new but built in the traditional Japanese style and also looked as though they had been there forever. The buildings and the garden were simply divine. It was a beautiful autumn day and perfect for lunch in the garden. We had an 8 course lunch "Take" which was simply wonderful. The food is centred around Tofu as you may have gathered from the restaurant's name. I can highly recommend this restaurant but please ensure you have enough time to truly embrace the atmosphere and the food. This is not a rushed lunch, although each course is served with precision timing as you might imagine in Japan. I would return to any of the Ukai restaurants.
