“Visitor-friendly: “Say Cheese!””
Pleasantly surprised by this lovely little restaurant. For some reason, perhaps through images on social media, I was mislead to believe this was more of an old-style ramen bar with un-refined food and manners. Absolutely not. This is a neat setup, spacious, airy, clean and pleasant, with tables and... individual counter seats, classy, kind service and plenty of help. And an automatic ticket machine in English! (still rare in Japan) really clear and easy to use. Being my second ramen of the day, I went for the tomato version, (as opposed to the original tonkotsu) - some more acidity needed in my body. Fabulous looking tomato sauce, unseasoned. loaded with flavour. Must be italian, Georgian or Japanese tomatoes, but certainly not Dutch water bombs. Gorgeous dish, tasty and, yes, it is hearty indeed, but never losing its grace. An amazing amount of grated cheese that I thought I’d never be able to deal with. But this Tokachi dry cheese from Hokkaido is still gorgeously cured and perhaps less pungent and sharp than aged Dutch or Italian versions, and much easier to deal with. Blends perfectly with the soup and the fresh basil. I licked the bowl clean. Actually, if you are really hungry, you could perfectly deal with an extra serving of cheese, available as an option when you order. Excellent fusion result, by the way. The noodle is superb, gorgeously chewy totally ramen and not pasta. Go for the thick option. “Tsukumo” is the nickname for number 99, and it is associated with a healthy and long life. The very kind owner/manager (?) likes to use the slogan “say cheese”, to summarise the experience. And he is right: it does put a smile on our faces.

“Ramen which welcome you back”
I have come twice. My kids love the cheese ramen so much. I tried the cheese before it melted to the soup. It taste so good. The cheese is very typical Hokkaido Cheese like what they said. It is light but milky but not salty. The brooth is also very rich and the pork slice is quite generously thick. ...We also love the ambience of the place eventhough it is small.

“Cheap, cheerful, tasty”
Great place for ramen if you're in the area and want something cheap and cheerful. Very friendly staff, quick service, tasty noodles. Massive portions too! Just make sure you order the egg as it doesn't come as standard.

“Our favorite ramen place in the world”
We used to live about 100m away and eat there often. Good atmosphere and good ramen. We always just ordered the regular bowl, with a bowl of rice and ikura, plus gyoza. When we moved away from Japan, they gave us a bowl - we still have it.
