“Italian with Japanese flare”
We found this restaurant on internet search as it’s location was close to our needs. We were 10 so our reservation was needed. We coordinated a menu prior based upon the restaurant menu. We were all thoroughly impressed with this creative adaptation of Italian and Japanese cuisine. Each dish was bea...utifully presented in a small portion fashion with unique garnish and in creative serving dishes. You can see the effort this chef places on each dish. The resounding favorite was the chilled capellini with fruit tomatoes. What a wonderful dish.

“Japanese influenced Italian food ”
One Michelin in Tokyo with really limited tables - about 7? Service was excellent, typical Japanese courteousness. Food- the ordering was absolutely confusing. Half the items in the menu were not available and he has to explain what’s available today which kind of makes the menu redundant. To ha...ve the uni pasta you need to pay extra 3k yen for 4k lunch set or 2k yen for 7k lunch set. The pasta was slightly too al dente for the both of us - a little less al dente would be nicer, it was way too firm than what I thought al dente to be. Octopus was sashimi style, never knew Italian have sashimi octopus... Veal was properly braised and desserts were just normal stuff. The breads were disappointing too- focaccia was so dry, and breads doesn’t come with olive oil and balsemic. To be honest this place serves fusion Japanese influenced instead of traditional Italian. Overall, I still enjoy my meal here however I thought my preference leans towards traditional Italian than Japanese influenced Italian food...

“Honestly disappointed this time”
I had dinner at this restaurant 4 years ago for the first time and, as I was so well impressed by the quality of dishes and services, I had contributed my favorable comments to TripAdvisor. Subsequently I took a couple of my friends and my wife there again and, while I was quite happy, my wife was n...ot satisfied as before with the taste of the dishes. We have been away since then but recently I took three gentlemen and was much disappointed by the taste of the dishes though one of friends being guest expressed to have appreciated the whole dinner services probably as diplomatic gesture. The meals laid down on the plates appeared very colorful and beautiful typically as the contemporary French cuisine that Michelin may favor. But honestly the taste of most dishes from stuzzichini through anti pasto freddo and caldo to primo platto was unsatisfactory. Only a small piece of rump steak with sauce of black truffle and yolk in secondo platto was very delicious. I could have shouted “ I came here to enjoy the taste of meals and not Picasso and Matisse paintings” It must be the case that , as the chef paid too much attention to appearance of the dishes, he ignored the taste and also equally importantly temperature of the food. From my experiences most of restaurants of even the first class hotels in Tokyo seem to take the similar pattern. I sincerely hope that the chef Honda should return to the original excellence of really Italian cuisine. A little ristorante near my home in Setagaya offers much better and real Italian cuisine. I am saying this from my experiences at such excellent ristorante as San Pietro in Positano and Mirabelle of Hotel Splendide Royal in Rome, if I remember correctly, both being also crowned with a Michelin Star.
