“Small counter - grat food”

Mr Shigeyuki Sato deserved truly our respect. Quiet concentration at first in his small restaurant. No plate will stay dirty- cooking, preparing, making food look beautiful in a few seconds and cleaning at the same time. So this is a peaceful and small place , it seats eight persons and you eat sit...ting at the counter where you in front of Mr. Sato who by the way speaks quite good english. I can not describe properly the whole meal as there were too many special fish, mushrooms and special preparations. The fix menu - nothing else is available- consisted mainly in vegetables and fish as a general line. No meat. First a nicely presented like small Bento plate. Salmon roe , raw shrimp and a small cake of fish roe in aspik. Two more small cakes filled with fish and a bowl of mushroom with some fish eggs that looked like caviar but were not. Beautiful presentation. Second comes a tea pot with a delicious soup of eel and mushroom. First ate the soup and after eel and mushroom directly out of the pot. Next plate beautifully and colourfully arranged, yellowfin tuna sashimi and soja sauce, eel and a plum sauce, cucumber and a little salad -very beautiful. Fourth plate marinated mushroom and salmon roe and sojamilk made japanese omelette. Next plate glazed hake, a small potato and a wonderful piece of specially pickled ginger-adorable. 5th plate very nicely presented vegetable dish. Looked like a modern sculpture...sauce this time more of european inspiration sth like a very fin and fresh northgerman salat marinade. Great! 6th plate. In algees rolled st Petersfish, green beans and cucumber. Delicious. 8th plate different pickled vegetables, nice sticky rice with mushroom and a fab miso soup. Last but not least finally and for one time an excellent dessert. Small glazed pear cake and a superfresh prepared savarin. All very good. You can have wine and Dom Perignon-we only had sake. Was delicious and 17.000 yen per person is a a very good value for such a fab food adventure..........

“Homy Japanese Dinner ”

Friendly and earnest Saito san welcomes you to his tiny dinner spot near Omotesando crossing. The place is not flashy and whether at the counter or in private rooms you feel at home in this 1980's Japanese decor. Saito san's dishes are very well prepared and earnest. One point of improvement is th...e list of sakes, too poor with 3 kinds and not at the level of a two star Michelin rating. Improvement would be highly welcome.

“Real authentic Japanese cuisine here!!”

Reviewed 19/Feb/2015

I visit here almost every month since we've found the place. I feel like here I have encountered the Real Authentic Japanese cuisine for the first time during my 6 decade life time. You must trust me as I am a native Japanese who have eaten real Japanese food for whole my life. Mr. Sato's cooking is... difficult to describe in my English. I would say his cooking is subtle, delicate and in its very traditional Japanese way. It is neither too much nor too less. That is how he and his restaurant Kogetsu have kept Mischellin 2 stars over years.
