“Absolute Perfection!”

The Japanese restaurant in The Tokyo Station Hotel, Shichi Jyu Ni Kou, was one of many high points of our stay. We had arranged a group dinner for eight in advance, to celebrate two wedding anniversaries. Arrangements could not have been easier, even from the US, and the kaiseki menu was outstanding.... We chose “Kei,” which had a number of unique and creative courses. The flavors and visual presentations were extraordinary, and introduced many unfamiliar, but flavorful delicacies. What appeared to be tiny pea-sized berries were actually incredibly sweet, minuscule cherry tomatoes; miniature sprigs of flowers were herbs enhancing the dish. The sashimi was sublime, skewered and roasted fish a crispy counterpoint, cubes of Kobe beef melted in one’s mouth. Each course was fully explained by wait-staff in traditional kimono (they did not speak English, but one of our guests translated), and the sommelier made perfect wine pairing. The dinner was outstanding on its own, and memorable for the lovely private room, attentive and warm service, and the care with which our celebrations were arranged. An evening of absolute perfection!

This small restaurant has a relaxed and refined atmosphere. The teppanyaki tables are just for 8 people. Chefs are respectful but nice. Food quality is amazing.

If you have a chance to try this place in the Tokyo Station building you really must. We had the counter to ourselves and the full attention of the chef. He was ultra attentive without being pushy and he observed us in a detached way that made us feel we would get exactly what we wanted precisely wh...en we wanted it. Super melt-in-your-mouth wagyu with perfect wine pairings. A quick business lunch went on for 3.5hrs, not because the pace of the meal was slow....we were just having too much of a good time!

A couple of good friends from Kyoto took us to this restaurant in the basement of the Tokyo Station Hotel. Wow!!! What a experience! Our chef, Katsumi Shinozuka is fantastic!!! All the dishes were delicious, beautifully prepared in front of us, presented and paired with the best reds, whites wines a...nd champagne. For more than one reason our dinner is unforgettable: spending time with good friends, in a world class restaurant, a fantastic chef and the best food and wine in Tokyo, one of the most wonderful cities in the world!
