“Fantastic restaurant experience!”
Highly recommend this restaurant experience for dinner. We had the ‘Chef’s Special’ Set Menu which was amazing. Every course was absolutely delicious! The staff were so friendly and informative about every dish. We loved our meal and this will be very high on our list of recommendations to friends v...isiting Tokyo! Best meal we had in Tokyo!

“Average at best”
Very average food at best. None of the courses were mind blowing. It’s all seafood. It’s the cheapest Michelin kaiseki dinner and if you just want to say you went to a Michelin restaurant go ahead but you will come out disappointed. Restaurant very hard to find.

“Simmered Sardines ”
You can enjoy 【Simmered Sardine】at 【Kappo Nakajima】in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Yanagawa Nabe (¥990) Deep fried sardine is soft enough to enjoy the bone. The fish is into mild soup with egg. The rice is refillable and there is no telling how much rice I can eat.

“Authentic Family Outing”
We made this restaurant our special family outing after our skiing in Shiga Kogen. It is not a flash restaurant in many respects, ie fine dining ambience or entry, but the food is excellent. You enter via a very ordinary below street level door and inside might be construed as a bit cramped and yo...u sit bar style, but that was part of the experience. We found every course in the degustation menu to our liking and although this is an expensive restaurant, think AUD 150-200 a head with a bottle of wine, we did not feel we did not get value. I think the service was particularly good. Maybe we were lucky!

“Disappointing return trip”
We came back with anticipation but were sorely disappointed. The food quality changed: more misses than hits. Clam was rubbery and could not be swallowed, marinated salmon was strange, the sashimi spread had very little fat in this cold winter. The biggest letdown was to discover this is a smoking r...estaurant. A large group sat, smoked, and with alcohol were excitedly noisy. Respectfully, we will not make a return trip here anymore. Goodbye Nakajima.
