Kirin-CityUeno

I went here with a couple of foreigner friends who were living in Japan after eating at a yakitori place. I'm not much of an alcohol drinker, but I can always go for a light Japanese beer on draft. Since this place is a Kirin brand, I naturally got a Kirin draft and quite liked it. As this is a ba...r, they had snacks and stuff, but since I was full from dinner, I only tried a few things my friends were sharing—like what I think were cheese-only pizza and something else. I remember them being good enough for pairing with alcohol. For a bar, things generally looked pretty clean, and people looked like they were having fun, which is what I'd hope for in a Japanese bar. Definitely, these Japanese bars look classier than American bars.

Tons of restaurant in Ueno area but if you think about good local beer, here is the good choice. This place is a kind of Kirin brewhouse, they serve various of Kirin beer. From normal lager to fancy one. Foods are so so.

They advertise a 4 part pour method that takes 5 minutes. The beer was just ok so not sure what the pouring method did for the quality. I noticed the 5 minute wait more than the enhanced beer! The location is good and the staff are friendly.

We stumbled on this place looking for something to please everyone incl two teenagers who were tired and grumpy after getting snowed in for a night at Tokyo airport. Everyone loved their meal. Good choice of tapas at reasonable prices. Daughter really enjoyed the potatoes and the tomato salad was si...mple and fresh. Great drink selectionvthat included beer cocktails if that happens to be your thing.
