“Great tomato sukiyaki”

Reviewed 10/Feb/2017

Basara has tomato sukiyaki which is a variation on the traditional. I like it as it's not as salty. It is sort of a Japanese Italian fusion. The staff is friendly and service is good. I would go back again.

“The best maguro zukedon in Tokyo”

Reviewed 02/Jul/2016

I used to frequent Basara a decade ago when they were in Roppongi and I frequently traveled to Japan. I nearly cried when I found out they closed, and was overjoyed when they reopened in Ginza. Their maguro zukedon is prepared with the fresh ingredients and flavored you'd expect in Tokyo. The diff...erence is: the perfectly poached egg with it. The combination of flavors is to die for! Everything I have ever eaten there is perfection. For dinner, I recommend splitting several appetizers and plates with a friend. Their tempura, seasonal figs with ginger sauce, and sampler box are all off-the-charts delicious. For lunch - the choice is easy! Maguro zukedon!
