Uotetsu

We visited around 12.30PM and there was a short queue of about 8 people. We were given the menu while we waited and this was good for first time diners. Short wait and we were given 3 seats at the counter. Order taking was quick and the waitress was able to describe the set meals very accurately. ...All 3 of us ordered different set meals. The consensus was that every set meal was superb. I had the grilled salmon - my my it was grilled to perfection and a very generous portion too. Food is great here and we will go again and again. They are not open on Weekends which is a great pity. Meals are bout 40% more expensive that the average lunch costs in central Tokyo, but the quality and quantity certainly justifies the price.

The old master retired from kitchen some time ago due to his backache, and now younger generation has taken over. Dishes look the same, but they are now prepared in advance and held in the fridge, which makes them too cold and less tasty. The place became less attractive for me, and good friend o...f mine who oftern enjoyed the place shares my perception. I don't intend to rate the place below average at all, it's still reasonable. But because it was so superb before, I now feel I am paying too much. 代替わりしてから、雰囲気は変わりませんが、やや味が以前ほどではなくったような気がします。刺身は以前とは違って作り置きが冷蔵庫にしまってあって、それが供されますが、冷えすぎで味わいにややかけます。以前が非常に美味しかったせいか、現在は平均的な味になりました。

I'm a native Japanese currently stationed in London. Whenever I come home to Tokyo, this is the place I check in for lunch. The restarurant is owned and run by an old ex-fishmonger and his family. Their main offer is the sashimi of the season, something you cannnot miss. Not only are they fresh a...nd tasty, but you will be amazed by the volume and the price they charge. I do not call this a cheap restaurant, but you will appreciate that they offer extremely good value for money. You will also find seasonal selection of cooked (grilled/boiled) fish dishes that are loved by many. They don't have a large seating area, so be prepared to que or arrive early (before noon) for lunch. Oh yes, nothing is written or explained in English, so come in with your Japanese friend if you have a poor command of Japanese. Open for dinner, too.
