“A Fantastic Eat-All-You-Can Deal !”
We were walking around in the vibrant Yokohama Chinatown looking for a place to eat. There were numerous restaurants offering different types of cuisines along the street. We were undecided until the bright and colourful advertisement boards of this restaurant caught our eye. An all-you-can-eat deal... for only 1680 yen and with 78 types of dishes to choose from! And this particular restaurant had even offered Peking roast duck in the menu. We could not resist the offer and decided to give it a try. After we were seated, a complimentary hot face towel was provided. Then we were introduced to all the 78 types of dishes under various categories, namely meat, seafood, tofu, vegetables, dim-sum, rice, noodles and desserts. We could order six dishes at each time. There was no limit to the times we could order as long as we finish everything that we had ordered. That was a very fair condition to prevent food wastage. Ordering the dishes was easily done through an electronic tablet. The food arrived on our table hot and freshly prepared. The portion was small but appropriate as that had allowed us to try more types of dishes in the menu. We found the taste of the dishes to our liking especially the Peking roast duck, sweet-sour pork, fried prawns in chilli sauce, chicken feet, Szechuan tofu and the steamed and fried dumplings. The waitresses were attentive and polite. There were also no other hidden charges and we paid 1680 yen net. We wondered how the restaurant could make a profit with such a generous offer especially in an expensive place like Japan where a bowl of ramen noodles would already cost about 1000 yen. We were glad we had made the right choice that evening because we were very full, happy and satisfied with the food, service and price after our dinner. We highly recommend this restaurant to visitors to Yokohama Chinatown.
