The food is well presented, deliciously cooked and home-made. The staff is nice and welcoming and the chef kindly adapted to our wishes. Would definitely recommend !

I’m writing this review because I’ve been to this restaurant at least three or four times a year for several years. There is a Japanese waiter who has been there since my very first visit (probably at least eight years ago), and he has always been friendly and accommodating. The owner, too, has alwa...ys been welcoming. I don’t understand some of the really poor reviews I’m seeing here. The food has been consistently good. I thought the lasagna was outstanding. Yes, some dishes are better than others, but so what? My impression of Trattoria is that they are always striving to improve and discover dishes that are hits. From what I understand, the owner(s) cure their own meats and grow some of their own vegetables. The place is not large, so in my experience, the service has always been great. If people are walking in expecting an Italian restaurant identical to what they’d find in Italy, I can’t say whether that’s the case, as I haven’t been to Italy in almost 40 years. Most of the time—but not always—there is an Italian chef. However, the last time I was there, the chef was Japanese. But the Japanese take great pride in mastering other countries’ cuisines, and personally, I’ve never been disappointed with the food. Yes, portions are on the smaller side, but this is Japan—that’s just how it is. If you’re looking for large, oversized portions, this is not the restaurant for you. I can’t speak to their wine selection as I don’t drink that often, but as far as a nice place to enjoy a good meal, I’m very happy to recommend it.

italian food is big in Japan and I can see why. They've added a Japanese meticulous touch to the existing Italian cuisine and I honestly really enjoyed it! If you're tired of sushi and ramen and all that japan has to offer or just want a break from it, this is a pretty solid spot.

Davide is the number 1. Great welcome, great dishes and great passion! A big angle of Abruzzo in Tokyo. We had dinner me and my father, both italians from Abruzzo, and we were surprised by the goodness of the menu proposed by chef Davide. Better than a lot of italian restaurants in Abruzzo! Our adv...ice, try the starter made by "salumi abruzzesi" homemade in Japan from Davide. Wine list is fantastic In bocca al lupo Davide!

I didn’t really get the comments here. The waiter was super nice and willing but the place was nothing special. The biggest thing was how little choice there was on the menu and when it arrived, it was just regular food. I wouldn’t say it’s the #2 restaurant in Shinjuku, I’d say it was okay.
