“Good food but with a service charge”
This cafe named Sumibi-Yakotiri is located on the East exit of Shinjuku station. The Yakitori dishes are displayed as photographs an the entrance. The place is in the basement. It's cramped and busy with locals. Smoking is allowed inside so those who have a problem with that better watch out. You ca...n sit at the bar and watch the chef do the grills. We ordered a sake which was chilled ( although it was cold outside) which was outstanding. It is called Otokoyama and is from Hokkaido. There is a good choice of yakotiri. They taste good. They do not accept credit cards and you are allowed to spend maximum of 2 hours inside. The prices are reasonable. But what is a no- no about this place is that there is service charge of 400 odd yen per head which is unusual for Japan. The service is flood though.

“Nice little sit-down for yakitoi”
We stopped here to get some yakitori. It had just opened for the night and was empty, but the service was pretty good, the place laid back and the food pretty good too.
