the SUSHI/ROOFTOP BAR

We are staying at the Andez and while the view is just as magical as we remember from previous stays, the attitude and service was not. We were made to feel unwelcome, had to nearly beg to get drinks, they had plenty of room at the couches but were held for reservations that many didn’t show for. Tr...ied to get a reservation for the next two nights and they said there was no spots at all. Maybe reserve more of the bar for first come first serve. Don’t remember ever having difficulty at 5 getting a table by the window. When we paid, the server said for us to wait while they verify we are actually who we signed our bill as, implying we lying and trying to get free drinks. Tacky to say that to hotel guests, even if you need to check, there is better ways to word that. The Charlie chaplain movie was cool. Music great as ever. Honestly a great great bar. Just needs a different service philosophy.

This place did not fall short of my expectations. It is extremely high class and the view is amazing. I’d recommend reservations if you are wanting to sit by the window. However, do not show up to this bar broke. There is a $20 cover charge per person for window seating + service charge. We spent ab...out $130 USD on 4 drinks. (The drinks are really good though!) They even had heated blankets on the couches which made it so cozy, I could’ve stayed there forever if my bank account allowed it. I love this place and am so glad we decided to check it out.

Both evenings that we stayed at the Andaz we had dinner elsewhere, but came back to the hotel for a cocktail and maybe a small dessert. We stayed in the middle of August, when the temperatures in Tokyo were unbearably hot. So even though it was well after dark when we stepped off the elevator, we ...were a little disappointed that the area wasn't air-conditioned. However, with vents built into the rooftop architecture as well as fans strategically placed, it was comfortable. Not cool, but comfortable. I imagine it could be cold though in the winter. Our first evening, we were seated at a cafe table and our waiter was very friendly. We got a small chocolate plate plus a couple of beers; we weren't "big" drinkers and even though the bar began to fill up, we never felt like we needed to either order more or leave. The second evening, the bar manager tended to us, and although we asked for a window seat, we found that you had to reserve those seats prior. He still found us a nice sofa with views so it ended up being just fine. When my husband ordered Nikka from the Barrel whiskey, he and the manager ended up discussing good Japanese whiskeys, making my husband quite happy. The music was great too - I added a lot of what was played onto Spotify. This was one of my favorite things about staying at the Andaz.

My friends and I didn't have reservation but they quickly sat us down that overlooked the city. It was absolutely beautiful and the cocktails were great. Nice service as well. It is a great place to see the city view. I recommend!

My friend and I visited on 7/4 (水曜日) between 9:30pm to 12:00pm. The food were delicious same as the cocktails !! And our server was super sweet and nice he even took us to the special area where we could take a great photos with Tokyo tower ( He is Japanese). However, the attitude of the reception g...uy was terrible. I was kind of blocking his way but he did not even say “excuse me”, he stood there behind me and sort of waiting when I would move out from his way. I believe that was absolutely not a right behavior as a server or receptionist. We felt like his attitude changes differently between foreigners and Japanese...2 stars dedicated due to this reception guy (he was also Japanese)
