“Amazing authentic local cuisine!”
Zen is accurately named. A beautiful, quiet and welcoming family owned restaurant. Absolutely meticulously prepared food all presented on gorgeous pottery from regional artisans.

“Unique flavors with specialty dishes of Nikko”
The set menu is adventurous and tasty. The yuba roll itself needs the fresh wasabi relish and soy milk dip that just enhances every aspect of the meal. Try local specialties and cuisines! There was a line at 1:45 pm on a Thursday but it’s because there’s only seating for 10 people. It’s worth the wa...it if you want to try something off the beaten path, very short walk from Shinkyo bridge. I will return if in Nikko again.

“Great lunch”
On the way back from the shrine we stopped here for lunch. Only a few people were in front of us so we didn’t have to wait long for a table. It’s all about tofu here. Service was good but the food was slow in arriving considering that there are only two or three choices on the menu. It’s basicall...y a set meal with pickles, a whelk, yuba rolls ( with either meat or fish), miso soup and a dessert with tofu skin and mochi. Reasonably priced.

“Tasty ”
Their set menu for ¥2000 is very worth it. All the little dishes are very tasty and work well together. The soy custard icecream stuff has 10/10 mouthfeel and flavour

“Delicious! ”
After looking at the high (and somewhat mixed) reviews, we decided to give this place a shot. Wasn't disappointed. The restaurant is quite small but had a cosy feel. Our meal was beautifully presented to us and each dish was explained to us in English by the waitress to the best of her ability, whic...h was quite adequate. The meal itself was delicious, allowing us to taste the flavours of the yuba.
