Everything was very good and the service was very friendly. The beer was especially delicious and the Schnitzel! To recommend!

I live around Nakameguro and on both sun and rain days, I love sitting at Schmatz and having fresh beers at the entrance area. I was lucky to also have a stunning seat in the 2F during cherry blossom. Everything about this concept is simply great. I will continue going to all their shops.

From far the place looks amazing and nice. But from a closer look when you’re actually inside, the interior/decor looks quite cheap. Two levels but the tables are squeezed quite close to one another. Makes sitting arrangement tight and uncomfortable. For a place with such pricing for food I would ex...pect to be able to sit comfortably without having to “participate” in the conversation next to me. Quality and taste of the food is not amazing. Quantity is quite pathetic as well. We order the chicken schnitzel that comes with a tiny portion of salad, and sausage platter of 3 that comes with some mustard sauce and small portion of sauerkraut. Its 300 yen if you want to have it with fries. The staff are quite poorly organized as well. They don’t seem to know which table ordered what when they are serving the dishes and drinks. Not sure if there’s a second toilet at level 2. But there’s one tiny toilet at the inner corner of level 1 that is just next to the counter seats. Could literally hear the conversation while you’re inside. Wondering if the seat just next to the toilet could hear you doing any business while using it. Also, smoking is permitted and they don’t have a segregated space for smoking and non smoking people.

Well, being from Munich a real beer is needed from time to time no matter which county I visit. When in Japan it was the time and we found the Schmatz Restaurant in Tokyo's Nakemeguro. A stylish place, packed as it was a Saturday but we got a place and had a good time. Of course with "German" beer s...ome snacks and a friendly staff.

Schmatz, owned by two Germans, opened this eatery with perfect branding, at the same time Starbuck's Roastery opened, the largest Starbucks in the world, and at the onset of the cherry blossom season in Japan. The restaurant is located right at the tip of Nakameguro, a stone's throw from Komazawa ...Dori. It fills a spot once used by a mediocre Italian trattoria and a patisserie. Two floors. Bench like and counter tables. Great freshly brewed craft beer, wonderfully tasteful German sausages, and 'real deal' veal Wiener Schnitzel. I consider this dish Austrian but apparently it is also served in a small area in Germany. Whatever, it is hard to find veal in Japan and this breaded cutlet is delicious. I suggest you make a reservation because this place was already jam-packed on opening day; customers were turned away, and it will surely get even more popular during the cherry blossom season and wth the largest Starbucks in the world right down the street along Meguro River. I took many photos of this restaurant but Trip Advisor does not have a function for me to upload them on this review. It is a shame and an important suggestion for improvement. We write these reviews gratuitously. Improve the site by allowing fotos on a new restaurant. I took my time to take them! Next you will be asking viewer fo the first photo of this eatery!!
