“Three stars may be a bit generous”

Three stars may be a bit generous for this fast food noodle shop. Come here for economy, not quality and don’t expect food service. Our udon was good and, like their other dishes, we were able to customize the toppings. The shrimp fry and chicken were tasty, as was the tempura pumpkin. I won’t b...e jumping up and down to go back, but if I need a quick inexpensive meal, this place will be on my list.

“My first”

A few years back this was my first experience in Japan for udon noodles and tempura sides. While an efficient chain restaurant lacking the mom and pop experience, it is a very good and an inexpensive lunch venue. This year we made a short train stop at Caretta Shiodome Mall just for the purpose of e...ating here again. We left fully satisfied with our meal. If ever in Tokyo again I will make another stop here. I wonder if it is the same Muragame that is so good in Honolulu?

“My default restaurant in Tokyo”

This is my default restaurant in Tokyo -- my go-to place for a quick, no-frills, satisfying and inexpensive meal. Of course it helps that it's near my usual hotel in Tokyo, the Villa Fontaine Shiodome. I found out about it through our Japanese business partner who pointed it to me when he took me ou...t to a business lunch in the area and recommended me to try it. I always order the Kake udon which are udon noodles in hot soup and pair it with an assortment of tempura. An average person won't spend more than 600 yen for a meal.

“Quick and inexpensive”

We had a quick lunch here before our bus pick up to the airport. Only wished we had found this place early on during our trip. It seems to be a chain and this facility caters to the business men out for a quick, cheap, unhealthy but good lunch. You line up like at a cafeteria but the line moves fas...t and we slowed things down for the working men behind us because we didn't know what we were doing. Fortunately, the server spoke English. You tell the server the bowl size of udon (they only serve udon) you want - medium seems to be popular. The type of soup you want, in broth or water, and the toppings are extra. But the toppings are all fried - egg, pumpkin squash, shrimp (Y1.50), lump of fried mixed vegts., etc. At the station after you pay, you get your water, green onions and bits of tempura batter if you want. Seating is challenging but turnover is quick. The udon noodles were good, had a nice chew to it. I thought the broth was too salty but the fried toppings were good and reasonably priced. The guy next to me only got noodles, green onion and tempura batter bits on top.

“popular cheap Udon noodle shop”

This Udon shop is operated by one of the largest Udon chain restaurants in Japan. The shop provides affordable Udon bowls and its costs around 500 yen. It's quick service. People can take deep fried tempra and Onigiri rice balls with Udon bowls. Taste was not bad.
