“Best sushi dinner of my life”
After a week of work in Tokyo, I went to this restaurant with 2 of my co-workers on our final night in Japan. We heard that it recently won a Bib Gourmand award from Michelin, but figured it was just far enough outside Tokyo that it would still be quiet and that we could get in without a reservatio...n (it was only a 20 minute subway ride from Shinjuku). It was perfect. We picked an omakase option from the menu, and the chef brought us 3 amazing and unique dishes (the oyster with miso soup was incredible), followed by 8 incredible pieces of sushi. The dishes all came one at a time, and we were able to chat with the chef about them. He was very friendly - didn't speak much english, but just enough to connect. We felt very welcomed, and the evening was so memorable. There is no website, so just have your hotel concierge call to make a reservation.

“A Traditional Sushi ya”
A good little sushi place that's off the beaten track. The staff speak little English so it is just about selecting which course set then let the surprises begin. Some great tastes but just don't expect volume or a sushi train. This is more traditional with the master preparing each piece for yo...ur immediate consumption. The prices are quite reasonable around yen3000 for a nice set.
