“Elegant dining”
Chose to eat dinner here night one in town. Very good food and great service. Ate the Pork entree which melted in your mouth.

“Classic French Cuisine Done Well.”
Whilst staying at the charming and historic Kanaya hotel, we thought it a travesty not to try out their own in-house restaurant. To be honest, we initially hesitated because of some of the less than kind reviews; But went on gut instinct and took the plunge. It was the right choice. The décor and a...tmosphere was inviting and in tune with the rest of the hotel, and our meal made for a nice break from the non-stop adventure of sampling less familiar Japanese options. We found the restaurant delivered exactly what you’d expect from a western hotel dating back to 1873, as well as what was purported on their website. That said, if you’re looking for cutting-edge or wildly creative French gastronomy, this dining experience will leave you cold. Here you’ll find classic cuisine a la Francaise - you know, the kind that your Parisian grandmother would instantly recognize. It was delicious, done with great pride and served graciously. The wine pairings were equally pleasing and although it wasn’t cheap, it was a fair price for what we enjoyed. All-in-all we found ourselves happily satisfied at the conclusion of our meal. Nikko Kanaya Hotel “Main Dining Room” delivered exactly what the promised, a well-presented classic French dinner at a relatively reasonable price.

“Menu and Food was superb”
Had two dinners and three breakfasts and all was extremely good. Selection was more than adequate and dinner was superb. There was a selection of wines if one desired.

“Awesome "French" Restaurant!”
A classic French restaurant with a Japanese flare, both the food and service are outstanding. French flavors and preparation are enhanced with classic Japanese service and food presentation. Absolutely the best restaurant in Nikko!
