“Not traveler friendly”
Travelling in Japan is never easy due to language barrier. But so far, despite the difficulty in communicating, I notice most of the time, the staff or crew will try their best to help us understand. But at Gyukaku Kichijoji, we encountered the otherwise, to our dismay. As we did not want to overe...at, we went for the premium set instead of the buffet. The staff who took our order and we waited patiently for our food. They then placed an iPad on our table without explaining what was it for and served us some sides. After around 15 to 20 minutes of waiting, our meats for the bbq did not arrive. So we sought understanding, and to our horror it was difficult to get attention and we wondered was it because they had to communicate with in English. And through the waiting, no one came to find out why we had no food. Finally, we got attention from one of them. After some struggles to make ourselves understood, it turned out that the staff who took our order placed it wrongly. Instead of premium set, she ordered buffet for us instead. And the iPad was for ordering of food. With all the waiting and the tough communication, the dinner did not start well. The food came promptly after the misunderstanding was cleared and to be honest, service aside, the food was not fantastic and I think we could get better meats at same price with nicer service elsewhere.
