We used this restaurant for dinner on a weekday. Of course the sake was delicious, but the food was also fresh and very tasty. I was amazed at how different the taste of a restaurant can be when there is a market nearby. The restaurant also has a large selection of rare Japanese sake, so even sake c...onnoisseurs will find something new.

We have booked a table for 2 online, a very practical method for people not speaking Japanese. We tried the sake tasting menu, where 4 types of different sakes are paired with 4 kinds of appetizers. That was great. The menu and sakes were explained in English by the waiter (very kind and professiona...l). In addition to that, the owner of the pub personally explained us more details about the sake production process and the differences among the sakes, with great passion and experience. We were also offered some "bonus" sakes to try out and we ended up buying a bottle to bring with us :P. Overall. one of the best experiences we had in Tokyo! Fully recommended.

Believe the hype! This place is great. The magic combo of truly delicious food, lovely owner and servers, and amazing drinks. If you are feeling out of place, they will make you feel welcome, and teach you as much as you want to know (with visual aids) about sake. The previous reviewer who called i...t Sake University was so right. And seriously, the food is great (I recommend the salted salmon, the bamboo shoots and the anchovy fries and the...), ambience is great. This is the kind of place you go back to twice while on vacation. It's tourist-friendly, without being touristy. AND if you like this experience, google "Tokyo tea tasting, 12 types" and look for a tasting with Yosuke (on Viator, and others). Sooo good. We had the sake tasting at Gashue one night and the tea tasting the next day, and it was SUCH a neat sensory, interpersonal, and intellectual one-two punch. Strongly recommend.

The owner goes above and beyond to create a welcoming environment. He take the time to educate about sake. Great for people who want to learn more about sake and to have a fun time. The food is great too!

Amazing and delicious experience learning about sake and tasting all the varieties. I walked in without a reservation, and they were able to give me a seat before they got busy. Lucky me! The sake-food pairing tasting includes yummy appetizers and is a good start. I enjoyed it so much that I also ...did the sake flight set 2, with different production techniques. Kako was a fantastic host and so knowledgeable and friendly! I decided to book the third flight for another day, couldn’t handle any more for that time! I can’t recommend this place enough, go!!
