Tempra Shimomura

Amazing! Chef Shimomura’s sequence of Tempuras is delicate and very delicious. That’s why he got one Michelin star. I strongly recommend.

We recommend this restaurant. It was good food and a nice experience. Really a highlight of this trip. This is our fourth trip to Japan and and a real highlight. The tempura was excellent and gourmet, but very inviting. I recommend it fully. The chef is young, it’s impressive that he is at this le...vel and no doubt will keep improving on his already high skills. And they were such a nice staff and the customers were friendly. It was all local patrons but they were friendly and happy to share dinner with our son. The restaurant was kind enough to allow our 2 year old son (we called to ask in advance as the Michelin review said they welcomed babies). Our son was well behaved until the end when he broke a glass. We felt terribly rude and apologised, offered to buy the glass and the restaurant was only concerned with our son. My husband had the entry level tempura menu and I had the second to the highest, we shared with our son. They were both very good. They were both mixed fish and vegetables, each piece served as it was cooked and cooked in front of us. If you like shrimp do the second to highest, it included a few pieces of nice shrimp and this nice mixed dish of shrimp, veggies and fish fried — very filling. Great value actually. Not inexpensive but well worth it. High recommends.

Shimomura is a newly opened Tempura restaurant. The chef has a 20 years experience at the top notch Tempura restaurant at Yamanoue Hotel. Everything offered here is very fresh. Fishes are highest quality Sashimi level. The price for dinner including alcohol is around 15,000 yen, which is far m...ore reasonable than other similar quality Tempura restaurants.
