Shubuaru Dou Hyotan

We were 4 people from Switzerland. What an experience! Beautiful restaurant . We took the menu which change weekly. They are using only local products coming from the country side near Tokyo. The products they served are wonderful- crab, eel, mozzarella with buffalo milk from the Tokyo region, etc.... They show you the videos from the cheese maker, the fisherman who caught/produce. The cook, a woman, is passionate about food and you can feel in what she is cooking! Bravo. She can also speak a little French. We took the wine pairing - a must have. With sake, Japanese wines, French wine, etc. The sommelier did a great job and also explained all dishes in English.

I discovered this restaurant for lunch upon a friend’s invitation and was truly impressed by the very high quality of ingredients and impeccable execution. The menu with choice of two hors d’œuvres, four main courses, two desserts and even expresso, in generous servings by Tokyo standards is a grea...t value for a gourmet meal close to one-star level. Knowledgeable staff, subdued atmosphere and open kitchen help create an attractive environment. I plan to go back for dinner to taste wines by the glass!

Welcoming excellent host and manager/owner. Fluent English and a simple menu that’s executed well. Fantastic wine. I ordered the sweetbreads, deer and chocolate dessert and was not disappointed. Good decor and experience

So glad I found this place through Routard. The multi-course tasting was extraordinary. Takao is a great host, and his wife is a very accomplished chef. It's one of those restaurants that you want to maybe keep secret, but also eager to share. French with Japanese touches, or perhaps the opposite.
