Za Kaunta Roppongi

My partner and I decided to try this Tokyo location of a California chain that I had been to many times. This location, in Tokyo Midtown mall is spacious and has an upscale feel (probably because it is an upscale mall). They have of course their standard burgers, but we decided to go fully customiz...able. The burgers are very good, my partner called it his new favorite burger in Tokyo. I have a couple of critiques, while the burgers were good, I didn't find the beef to be exceptional (compare to some other high end burger places in the neighborhood), I generally prefer my burgers on the well-done side, however I thought they should provide a choice how well you would like your burger cooked. Service was generally ok, but there was one female who bordered on rude. A couple of times while talking to her she just started walking away to the point I was yelling across the restaurant to tell her what we needed - by Japanese service standards it was pretty egregious. Having said all that, we we will definitely go back because my partner loved it.

No menus! We have to take out mobile phone, select from complex screens, and basically do all the work while the waiters (nothing wrong with them and not their fault) just stand idle doing nothing. Totally useless nonsense. Why can’t they have normal menu like before?! What if you don’t have a godd...amn smartphone. Hated the experience and hope they can have normal menus soon or won’t be back.

Decided to get an early dinner out in Midtown Tokyo and chose The Counter. I love that you can design your own plate. I chose the chicken breast with jalapeño jack cheese on mixed greens with toasted pineapple ring and quinoa topped with a chipotle sauce. I had it along side sweet potato fries. The ...chicken was not dry and the flavors of sweet and spicy melded together so well. My husband designed a burger with jalapeño jack cheese over lettuce with pickles and bacon with the chipotle sauce alongside French fries. He said the burger was not over cooked; rather it melted in his mouth and tasted like a mix of a fresh Big Mac and BLT, minus the T. We will definitely take the train and enjoy this place again. By the way the atmosphere was nice and quaint. If your in midtown I suggest you try it!!!

The appetizer sampler with three items (wings, guac and chips and fried pickles) was yummy and plenty to take the edge off while we waited for our burgers. The burgers were delicious! Great flavor and options for toppings. We will definitely be back!

Build your own burgers or chicken sandwich, etc. Meat ( double patties) cooked perfectly and English muffin bread toasted too. Side order of chili ( really good!) and a super chocolate shake for 30k yen. Background music a bit much, Service very good.
