Yasaiyamei Gotanda

It was Halloween Eve and taking the train for a meal was too busy and unnecessary. We chose this restaurant near our hotel and it was a very good choice. Most often in our travels, vegetables are often scarce during the wintertime. What a lovely surprise when my crusted chicken arrived on a bed o...f rocket, beets, zucchini and other root vegetables. The vegetables were shaved and nicely presented. It was colourful; but more importantly healthy. There’s articles in English on the wall showing the vegetables grown at a farm and brought direct to this restaurant. Everything was fresh and crisp. Prices were reasonable.

We heard that this place could do vegetarian shabu shabu, so we were excited to try it. Overall, it was very disappointing. They did try. The language barrier was tough...but they seemed to indicate there was a special vegetarian broth that we could have. But then they just gave us water. The entire... meal was just vegetables boiling briefly in plain water at the table. It was bland, expensive and we left hungry.
