Delicious hamburgers and fries (if a bit expensive). They also tend to have great beer specials! We love this place and it’s totally appropriate for children (they have 2-3 kids’ sets).

We visited this restaurant for lunch twice. The first time there was no chicken available at all which was disappointing as it looked so good on the menu, so we shared the house salad (~900 yen and fabulous), fries with chilli and cheese (~600 yen, lean meat and plenty of melted cheese) and the saus...age with red cabbage and sauerkraut (~1000 yen and tasty). On our second visit chicken was back on the menu so we ordered the grilled chicken (~700 yen), fries with chilli and cheese and the house salad (avocado, nuts, broccoli, squash, quinoa, olives, tomatoes and a yoghurt and dill dressing; it really was sooo good - my husband doesn't eat salad and he was craving this). One note for vegetarians about the salad was that the first time it contained no meat/fish but the second time it had smoked salmon on top so you might want to check before ordering. On both visits we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Most customers seemed to order the burgers which looked fantastic too. The décor here is fun with a straw hut at one end. It is pretty smoke free as smoking is only allowed at the counter rather than at the tables like a lot of Tokyo restaurants. The service was friendly although the staff seemed stretched during a really busy period at lunch. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely return. * A little vague but here are some directions - hope they help rather than hinder! From the North exit of Shimokitazawa station with Peacock supermarket in front of you, turn left and walk to the end of the street, follow it to the right and continue along the road up the slight hill with the railway tracks on your left. Keep going until you reach the level crossing on your left, turn right and follow the road for a couple of hundred yards until you come to the Village Vanguard entrance on your left (the diner is in the basement). At the time of writing the entrance is opposite "Fruits Taiyaki" selling ice cream and other desserts (didn't try it this trip but on the list for next time!). From the station to Village Vanguard shouldn't take more than 4/5 minutes.

Burgers and taco rice were on the menu tonight. Service was a bit off and we weren't thrilled with the quality of the rice. Bacon Cheese Burger was good; not great. Four stars because..... Well..... We use to love this place.

After a tough morning, we wandered into Village Vanguard for a lunch time burger and beer. I had the Double Double Cheeseburger and the Buffalo Chicken Wings. She had the Avocado Taco Rice. The food was great. The service was friendly. And the drinks were cold. What more can you ask for? All t...old, we spent close to $25 each for a solid lunch and drinks (draft beer and cocktail). A bit pricy, but well worth it. We will be back.

We met this place while we were walking around during the night. We wanted to eat some meat dishes and we decided for this place. The hamburger we ate was really nice and so big! And the other fantastic thing was, there were a lot of different kind of beers. If you want to eat a good burger, I think... that it's your place.
