YOSHINOYA Kodemmacho

A nice restaurant, easy walk from our hostel, and cheap meals. We averaged around 600 yen per person, for a full meal. Slightly more fancy than a McDonalds, but clearly a shop, not a cafe, alleviating pressure to appear sophisticated (I am a walking social faux pas, so this was useful). English me...nu available on request (or in our case, staring confusedly at the Japanese menu until they offered it to us). Was able to select a meal, and add ons individually, or pick from pre-set meals.

Closest place to my hostel, we decided to eat dinner there after a long and tiring day. For 480¥ I got a vegan set (rice bowl, miso soup and a rich vegetables pot), while my mates enjoyed a beef-salmon-rice-miso set for 580¥. For the price we payed, the food we ate was perfect! The staff is nice and... they have an english menu.

After a day of walking around Tokyo and returning to the hotel, you find yourself a little hungry and need something to fill that space inside, Yoshinoya does just that. This particular branch of Yoshinoya was mere feet away from the hotel I stayed in which made it super convenient. Don't speak J...apanese very well? No problem! Yoshinoya has two menus, one Japanese language menu and one English menu. As with many places in Tokyo, the English language skills of the staff leaves much to be desired, but this isn't a problem because the old 'point and nod' at the menu works very well. Once you have placed your order, it is only a few minutes before your food is served. My personal preference was the vegetable curry - absolutely divine! Even though the food arrived just minutes after placing the order, it is evident that it was prepared freshly for you as you can see straight into the kitchen from your seat. A late night favourite of the local Salarymen and Taxi drivers, Yoshinoya is both extremely tasty, very filling and extremely good value for money. You can get a good filling meal for just a couple of hundred yen. This makes it a super affordable eatery if you are holidaying on a budget or you just want to save a little bit to spend on other things. Very clean inside, friendly staff and absolutely amazing food makes this one of the better locations in the area.

Great beef bowl rice. Value for money. Eat here if you are tight on budget . Free green tea as with most japanese restaurant
