“Absolutely delicious: Become a graduate of Buta University!”
We went twice during our 4-day stay in Tokyo. The taste is absolutely superb. I highly recommend a visit. It is busy in the evening but both times we got a seat within a few minutes and were served shortly after. The price for a bowl is very reasonable. There are different sizes available. We ar...e good eaters, went for medium both times and were comfortably full. The pork is marinated and grilled to perfection above char coal.

“Delicious grill pork with a great price”
This place have a great and delicious grilled pork. The pork have been grilled to a perfection. The sauce is sweet and tangy, which is goes well with the rice as well. Definitely will come back again to this place in the future.

“You should try”
The point is simple. If you are looking for cheap and tasty food, this is your place. You will find rice with meat for less than 1000 yens if I am not wrong. The dish was more than expected. In my honest opinion, lower reviews are not accurate at all, for less than 1000 yens you are not going to... find the place of your life. But the quality-price ratio is so so good, even the portions are large. In fact if you still reading, let me give you this advice and try it.

“Simply the best thing ever”
I'm a simple man. I see bacon, I gotta eat it. I see a bowl of rice with bacon/pork belly on it, I don't even hesitate. It's the perfect combination for me. So if you're a simple person like me, don't be silly and get the large (like I did). Nah, get the extra large. Hell, get another bowl even lol.... The food was everything I wanted it to be. I hyped myself up a lot for this and it didn't disappoint. The sauce they used was perfect. It was so good that even if you ate all your pork, you'd have no problems downing the rice by itself. The quality of the rice was actually better than some other places I went. Even the portions were surprisingly large, at least for Japan. The pork was not crispy, so if you're expecting that, you may be disappointed. It's pork belly, so it'll be soft. The charred smokey flavor definitely stands out and it is great. Nothing complex about this meal. It doesn't lie to you. It's exactly what it looks like. Awesomeness. To wash it down, they have a pitcher of water and a glass for pretty much every seat already there. There's also tissue boxes if you need a napkin. Simple and effective. For anyone unfamiliar with ordering from the machines. It's simple. Assuming you know the price or have an idea of it, just put your money in then select the item you want. You'll get a little ticket for every button you press. When you're done and need your change, just press the button next to where you put the money in. Hand the tickets to one of the workers and you're finished. I went at around 2:30 PM on a work day, so it wasn't very crowded. When I arrived, there was no line but every seat was taken. Only waited a couple minutes for someone to leave. It started to get empty during my time there, so I'd say go between 2:30-3:00 PM on a weekday if you don't want to deal with crowds. They have a little stand near the door you can put your things on or just leave it out of the way on/near your feet (what I did).

“Absolute porky goodness! ”
I discovered Buta Daigaku through a popular Youtube food vlogger and from friends living in Tokyo. We were lucky enough to be staying nearby, so making a dinner stop here was a must do during our recent trip. The ordering process is very straightforward. Go up to the machine, put in your money and ...press the buttons for the stuff you want. You then get tickets which you have over to the staff behind the bar. I went for the medium grilled pork bowl with soft boiled egg and miso soup on the side. The pork is so tender, with a wonderful smoky flavour from the grill. The pork belly had a wonder ratio of meat to fat which made it perfectly juicy, but not sickeningly fatty. The sweet, salty sauce they poured over the pork and rice makes this dish so more-ish, that I felt I could have gone with a larger portion! The 15-minute walk back to our hotel was most welcome after our meal here as we were so stuffed - but in a good way. We actually came back on our last day to have more of this amazing pork dish. Definitely a must try when you come to Tokyo. Be warned though, this is a small place with less than 20 seats (only bar seating) so if you are a large group you will have to split up!
