“The glutenfree dinner challenge (Failed!)”
Trying to find a place to eat in Nikko was extremely challenging, particularly if you are in search of gluten free options. We thought if any place can do it, it's got to be the Ritz. Wrong!! Not a very welcoming place; couldn't even find the main door. It was four walls until one of them slid open.... We tried the Lakehouse but the hostess claimed they were all booked up. The place looked like a ghost town to us. Then we ran into a semi-helpful staff person who tried to see if the bar could accommodate us. Not such luck. The bar was practically empty but claimed they were completely booked. Ever feel like you're not welcomed? Thoroughly disappointing for the Ritz. Do they only cater to those staying there? Maybe so. I used to think that they were utmost in customer service but I guess I was wrong.

“Stunning scenery”
Such a great place to escape from the busyness of the City. The lakehouse restaurant is one of the beautiful outlets of the Ritz-Carlton, Nikko. We enjoyed good quality of Western food, mainly emanating from the region, it taste awsome. A great combination between territory products and the Chef ski...lls .Amazing service and professional staff.

“Lunch in Style”
It is the Ritz so the price should not be a surprise. The lunch special was a good value for a luxurious lakeside/boathouse setting and wonderful service. The a la carte menu would add up quickly and lower my rating for value. The published prices included tax and service so there was no surprise... when the bill arrived.
