“Unforgettable experience”

Reviewed 06/Dec/2025

I had an unforgettable experience at Sasho. The moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warm hospitality, especially from Rin Sakai, whose service was truly exceptional. She explained every dish with so much care—where the ingredients came from, the meaning behind each item, and how it was prepared. I...t made the meal feel even more special. The restaurant is set inside a beautiful traditional Japanese house, and the staff wear elegant kimonos, which added to the authentic cultural atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious—every bite was perfect—and I couldn’t get enough of the stunning autumn garden view outside the window. Sasho is not just a meal—it’s a full Japanese cultural experience. Highly recommended! 🍁

“Hayama Beef and the Ultimate Atmosphere”

5
Reviewed 08/Nov/2025

Just under a 10-minute walk from Kamakura Station, following a path steeped in the charm of the ancient capital, the restaurant stands quietly. This location, combined with the instantly enveloping antique and tasteful atmosphere upon stepping inside, was the establishment's greatest draw. It was an... "otherworldly space" where time seemed to stand still, something you could never experience in the city center. The main star, the Sukiyaki, was truly exquisite. The Hayama beef, in particular, was surprisingly tender; the moment it entered my mouth, it melted away so completely it took my breath away. Its rich aroma and elegant sweetness spread throughout my palate, providing a moment of pure bliss. The Tamago Kake Gohan (rice mixed with raw egg) was simplicity itself, yet its quality ingredients made it absolutely superb. And the carefully prepared dessert, a Japanese confection (wagashi) befitting the beautiful setting, was also delicious. This restaurant offers more than just a meal; it provides an experience where you can savor the beauty of Kamakura's ancient capital and the highest quality cuisine with all five senses. It is a renowned establishment that I highly recommend visiting for special occasions or when you want to thoroughly enjoy exquisite food in an extraordinary setting.

“Perfect Sukiyaki Shabu-shabu spot in Kamakura”

Sasho is such a hidden gem, warm hospitality, a beautiful garden view, and that calm, elegant vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer. We tried the Premium Wagyu “Shabusuki” Course with Hayama wagyu — a rare black Wagyu with only 10 cattle distributed each month 😳 First sukiyaki, then sh...abu-shabu — the beef was so tender it melted in our mouths, perfectly paired with their delicious house sauce and fresh seasonal veggies. They also offer five carefully selected types of sake, kept fresh and protected until the moment it’s poured, such a lovely touch 🍶 Sitting by the window, gazing out at the softly lit garden, honestly felt magical. If you’re in Kamakura and looking for a truly special Japanese dining experience, this is the spot. I’d go back in a heartbeat ❤️

“Sasho Kamakura Sukiyaki & Shabu-shabu Restaurant”

A hidden gem just 8 minutes from Kamakura Station — Sasho Kamakura Sukiyaki & Shabu-shabu Restaurant offers a refined and peaceful dining experience. Set inside a renovated 1927 villa with a serene Japanese garden, you can enjoy the rare Hayama Beef, one of Japan’s finest wagyu varieties — only 10 ...heads are distributed per month! I tried the Premium Wagyu Sukiyaki & Shabu-shabu Course (¥16,500), which included seasonal appetizers, steamed abalone, wagyu sukiyaki, shabu-shabu, and a matcha dessert. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of delicate flavor. The Japanese Sake Pairing (¥4,800) was a highlight — served using KEG Draft technology, preserving the fresh brewery flavor right to the glass. Calm atmosphere, elegant hospitality, and exceptional quality. A must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic yet luxurious Japanese dining experience in Kamakura. 🌸
