NEW SANKOOtaru Main store

Stumbled into this place. Having read other reviews that say this is on 4 floors I’m not sure if it’s the same place as others have reviewed here. But it’s certainly in the same area and is within a covered shopping street off sushi street. We were seated on the ground floor - which seemed to be th...e only area this restaurant had. It’s very large and spacious but we were seated in a smaller room with a number of other Japanese ladies at other tables who seemed to be ‘ladies who lunch’. We chose two very yummy cheesy pasta dishes with garlic bread, downed with hubby’s new favourite drink - Yebisu Stout Creamy Top, whilst I had a lovely cold glass of white wine. The lady who served us was delightful, efficient, helpful and friendly. There was free tea, coffee, soft drinks. All in all not expensive and very tasty.

Stumbled in and went to the 2nd Floor who h is a traditional Japanese place with table seating and several private rooms. They had a decent range of meals and dishes including lunch sets which are great value. I chose the tempura, sushi and Soba combo and was impressed. A substantial meal for arou...nd 1700 yen. They also have free flow self serve Miso Soup, soda, tea and coffee. It was frequented heavily by Japanese pension aged folks so it's obviously good value. The ground floor place is more a beer hall but similar food. The 2nd floor was more homely.

The place is very big on 4 floors. Their menu is in both English & Japanese with pictures which helps a lot. They have dark beer like Guinness called Yebisu stout creamy top (669 yen per glass ) but my husband said it wasn't that good. I ordered some local Hokkaido wine called Otaru Aka (514 yen ...per glass) and it was terrible. We ordered shrimp and mushroom in garlic oil (850 yen) not much shrimp and lots of oil but very small dish. Fried noodles with seafood (834 yen) and that too was mediocre in taste. Very disappointing especially it had been recommended to us. Maybe we did not order the right food!

food is in normal price level for Japan,!this place most looks like some irish pub,have a couople tipe of draught beers and some kinde of sausages,burgers and stakes...and everithing is very delicous
