Fuji SushiOtaru

You can hardly go wrong with sushi/seafood in otaru (except one other place we’ve been to but out of desperation as all others have closed for the day). The food was good value for money but be sure to try the chawanmushi! I was wondering why it was so costly but that little chawan was so chock full... of goodies and the egg was unlike any other I have eaten recently - perfect blend of sweet and salty.

Devine Sushi, beautifully and carefully prepared in front of us....no idea what the other places here are like but believe most are good....but we wanted to sit at the sushi bar and they had space....recommended

We had driven around Shakotan Peninsula anticlockwise, and the evening sun was already under the hills of the peninsula when we were cruising through Otaru, heading for Sapporo. We decided to have supper in the town. The street where we parked were full of souvenir shops. We bought a crystal souv...enir in one of the shops, and realized cafes along the street were already closed. We had had our lunch in Fuji-zushi in Shakotan Peninsula, and found another Fuji-zushi along the street. We dropped in at the restaurant without any particular reason. We had felt sorry for not having sea urchin for lunch. But yet we had tempura domburi for supper. We found it very hard to learn from the regret or reflection.

It was a Saturday night on 23 June 2018. My family picked this restaurant as being tempted by the variety of food offered on display, and that many restaurants and shops were closed at that hour. Service-wise - one of the rare cold treatment you get in Japan. We wouldn't mind if the foods were goo...d, or at least, acceptable! We ordered 磯鍋 (minimum 2 portions, Yen4,924), one Una重 (Yen4,104) and a Steak御膳 (Yen2,894). Steak御膳 - Average; Una重 - You can get much better both in terms of quality and quantity elsewhere; 磯鍋 - A rip-off! The crab legs were tiny! Worst of all, they were not fresh, stale!!! Probably fresh ones were served as sashimi or sushi, while unwanted ones were thrown in this hotpot instead of their rubbish bin. Would we be served with better quality if we were local??

Never been to a restaurant and had the all staff purposely ignore and complain about having to take my table's order in front of the 3 other customers in the shop. Food was standard at best. Absolutely never again. There are much better options in the area.
