“High quality sushi with reasonable price”
High quality sushi with reasonable price. Quite famous among locals but owner and staff understand basic English. Reservation is recommended.

“Great Sushi”
This place is well know by locals as a superior Sushi restaurant. The sushi was excellent and above par even though most sushi anywhere is good up here. We ordered several other dishes and one or two were not that good. The large Hokkaido scallops grilled in the shell were disappointing. The Gr...illed Mackerel was spot on. A speciality in Hokkaido and must try. Hokkaido potatoes in any form are usually good too. The servings are not large and its in the medium to higher price range. A busy place so booking is highly recommended. Modern set up with tables and counter seating. Located on the corner between the Ginza strip and route 5 in the restaurant block of Kutchan.

“Average food, exorbitant price”
We chanced upon this restaurant as we saw a number of foreigners inside and thought that it was good. The food is really average but the price was really expensive.

“This has to be the worst eating experienc of my life.”
I took a friend here 2 nights ago (19th Sept 2017) This restaurant was disgusting and disgraceful...food disgusting and their overcharging disgraceful. So embarrassing as I have spent years banging on about the amazing quality of food in Japan and the Niseko area. We noticed when ordering that on ea...ch page of the menu that there were 2-3 stickers saying "souldout'; quaint translation of Sold out. We ordered seafood salad at 2,500 JPY, tempura, several bits of sushi as the tempura octopus we were told was also "souldout" so replaced that with a few bits of Sushi. Also ordered Hakkaku fish at 2,000 JPY. Drinks were 2 x Yuzu sours and 1 x sake. First arrived the typical offering of something that we did not order...a token of their kindness and generosity. Then the rest of the food. The seafood salad was hideous...not anything that got our taste buds working and totally overpriced at 2,500 JPY, the tempura was marginal and tempura sauce like soy...not what it should have been. The sushi just OK and the whole fish...it was inedible. It had been cooked...I am not sure when and reheated in a microwave. We had the exact same fish the next night at Torymatsu and it was stunning. Then the piste to resistance was when the bill arrived....over 13,000 JPY. We immediately got our our mobile and added up the cost of what we ate...twice we did this and then approached the 2 x waitstaff about it. We got closer to 10,000 JPY which was still totally over what we ate price wise. They tried to explain to us that the extra cost was the cost of the starter which we did not order...the Japanese free token from them, and the service charge. Anyway, we walked out with them pretty embarrassed about what they charged us, they clearly tried to rip us off, and with a bill that had been reduced to 10,000 JPY which was also way above what it should have been. We have just eaten for the second time at Sakaba for 10,200 JPY with the most amazing food and 1 x bottle of delicious Spanish red....could not even start to compare with Sato Sushi ....DO NOT WAST YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT THIS RESTAURANT...a disgrace!!! They will not survive in this area of amazing local food.

“Great meal!”
We went without booking but glad that they could fit us in as we were there early. We ordered the chef's sushi plate (made in front of us) and the tempura mixed plate - both dishes were yummy. There were other great dishes which we didnt try. Not the cheapest place to dine in but worth paying for th...e quality ingredients, chef skill and holiday splurge! Also at least it's not as expensive as if we were to have something similar around niseko ski resorts. The restaurant is easy to locate across kongo and short distance from train station. Staff were friendly and quick.
