Crocchio

The quality of the dishes and use of local Hokkaido ingredients is impressive. Chef Kanako Kojima can hold her own against any of Sapporo's Michelin Star French places. They have lots of waiters and nice table clothes, she has the food. Notable also was the wine by the glass, which often is either ...underwhelming or budget damaging in Japan, but Crocchio's offerings were truly excellent and offered excellent cost performance. I've lived in Sapporo for the past few years and wished I'd come here sooner. Reservations well in advance are an absolute must.

Have been going to this little shop between Odori Koen and Susukino for several years--it's a staple whenever in Sapporo, and there's nothing not to like. The service is always welcoming and warm. The waitstaff are incredibly friendly and helpful and know the menu backward and forward--always happ...y to recommend, substitute or offer more information on the food and drink. And everything on the menu is delicious and freshly prepared. It's more of a casual Izakaka / pub type of place, so you can go with friends or office colleagues and would be ideal for a casual date or evening out. The decor is not particularly flashy, but it is definitely comfortable no matter what time of year you visit. I've been perhaps 8-10 times in the last 3-4 years and Crocchio never fails to impress: the overall result of the staff, food, location, and price is very, very good. You may find the price to be a touch higher than similar shops but for me it is well worth paying for such warm hospitality, great service, and good times. One thing to be aware of ... the shop does have a few steps inside, so is not barrier free and could be difficult for those with limited mobility. If this is you, I recommend you call ahead and consult with the staff. I am sure they will make every effort to accommodate if possible. The shop is fairly small in terms of area and almost always full (something to consider in these corona days), so reservations are a must. They'll do everything possible to work you in. Highly recommended! You can't go wrong at Osteria Crocchio. Hope this helps!

ingredients are fresh, the combination of different ingredients are amazing, the chef has a clear idea of what the perfect balance is, whether a mix of different texture, understated seasoning which would never destroy, but support the main ingredient(s), visual coordination, a wonderful aroma, and ...finally the simple, yet complex, taste which the dish always should taste like. I was absolutely impressed. I wish I can eat that "oyster posh" a dozen order everyday, as well as an amazing dear roast, "watari crab" pasta, and "uni cream pasta." everything was just great!
